Bonnie Lynn Whitley Whitehurst

“Bonnie Lynn” Whitley Whitehurst, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 1, 2019.

Bonnie was a graduate of East Carolina University. After graduation, she returned to her home town of Tarboro to work at Federal Land Bank. On June 21, 1964 she married her husband Benjamin R. Whitehurst. Shortly after their marriage, she resigned from her job and worked beside her husband to build Whitehurst Farms. She worked in the farm office and supported her husband while he spent endless hours in the field. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and friend. She was loved and admired by all that met her. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, decorating, cooking, sewing and devoting her time to her church. Her contagious smile and laugh will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She was born in Tarboro, NC on March 25, 1942 to Lyn and Irene Whitley. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Benjamin Robert Whitehurst.

She is survived by her three sons, Travis Whitehurst and wife Ronna, Jeffrey Whitehurst and wife Nichole of Tarboro and Bennie Whitehurst and wife Michelle of Conetoe; grandchildren, Devan, Chase, Noah, Caleb and Eli; sister, Gale Whitley Hill of Winston Salem. She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Carlisle Funeral home on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8pm.

A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held in the chapel at Carlisle Funeral Home on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
