Carl Wayne “Boochie” Cross went to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 after an extended battle with cancer. He was born on April 16, 1934 as the only child of Fred H. and Odell Cross.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy O’Neal Cross; daughter, Susan Cross Ainsley and husband Charles; son, Carl Wayne Cross, Jr. and wife Sherry, all of Tarboro; grandchildren, Carla Fleming and husband Brendan of Greenville, Lauren Gregory and husband Chris of Greenville, Taylor Ainsley and wife Emily of Falkland, Kelsey Wilson and husband Dan of Scotland Neck; Erin Hopkins and husband Ryan of Oak City; and eight loving great-grandchildren.
Boochie was a proud railroad man and was retired from Seaboard Coastline (CSX). He later invested in real estate and enjoyed following the stock market. He was an avid trout fisherman and spent his happiest hours plying the waters of Pungo River. He loved flowers and plants and took great pride in his landscape and vegetable garden. Boochie leaves a wonderful legacy of family and friends. He had a huge thirst for life and kept an extraordinary sense of humor, even to the end.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, November 8th, 2019 at Carlisle Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 p.m. A celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
