Mr. Glenwood Jackson Boykin, Sr., born March 21, 1930, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War and made his home in North Garden, Virginia. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was active in his community as a volunteer fire fighter, Deacon at Covesville Baptist Church, a Masonic Member and Ruritan Club Member.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edith Masters and Homer Boykin; his wife of 60 years Myrtle B. Boykin; and a son Homer Eugene Boykin.
He is survived by his children Gwendolyn and husband Bert Pitt of Macclesfield, Gleen and wife Lynda Boykin of Simpsonville, SC. and Elwood Boykin of Lovingston, VA.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister Dorothy Gregory; brother Franklin Boykin; and many loving friends and family.
A Celebration of Glenwood’s life and his wife, Myrtle will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:00 am, Alberene Cemetery, Alberene Church Rd., Esmont, Va. 22937. The family will receive friends and family following the service.
