James Robert Rawls, 90, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August, 7, 2018, 11:00am at Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors.
James proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1947 thru 1948, and also in the U. S. Army from 1950 thru 1955.
James was also a member Tarboro Moose Lodge for many years serving as secretary, manager and everyone knew him for his delicious barbecue chicken that he cooked for fund raising events.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Rawls; grandson, Danny Vick, Jr.; son-in-law, Pete Trevathan.
He is survived by his loving family, including daughters, Janet Trevathan and her fiancé, Richard Griffin, Connie Hunt and her husband, Keith both of Tarboro, Robin Angelo and her husband, Michael, of Chesapeake, Va.; a very special and dear friend, Edna “Sweet Pea” Proctor, Tarboro; grandchildren, Michael Trevathan and wife, Elizabeth Scott Trevathan and his fiancée, Mary Archer, Amber Vick and her fiancé, Jason Joyner, Macy Keys and Joseph Angelo; great grandchildren, Tanner and Payton Trevathan and Katelin Smith; great great grandchild, River Taylor.
The family will receive friends and other relatives Monday from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home of Connie and Keith Hunt, 1601 Colony Dr. Tarboro.
