James Edward Rogister passed peacefully at his residence in Tarboro, NC on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 78. Born in Edgecombe County, on February 2, 1940, he was the son of the late E.W. and Virginia Rogister.
James was a devoted and caring husband and father to wife Dorothy of 56 years and three daughters; Debbie, Terri and Jenny. As a lifelong farmer and devoted fisherman, James often enjoyed spending time with his family during his quail hunting and fishing trips reminding all that family was the most important thing.
Survivors include; his wife, Dorothy S. Rogister; daughters; Debbie Stroud (Glenn) of Hobgood, NC; Terri Thomas of Tarboro, NC; Jenny (Chester) Paramore of, Tarboro, NC; Grandchildren; Jessica Stroud, Joseph Thomas, Emily Thomas, and Seth Paramore; brothers; E.W. “Bill” (Jean) Rogister of Tarboro, NC; Paul Rogister of Palmyra, NC; Bobby (Shelby) Rogister, of Bethel, NC; sisters: Ellen (Larry) Raynor of Rocky Mount, NC; Annie (Don) Godwin of Tarboro, NC; Linda (Donnie) Davenport of Seneca, SC, sisters in law; Margie Rogister of Tarboro, NC; Lillian Kirkland, Evelyn Mitchell, Margie (Tommy) Belch, all of Tarboro, NC; Kathy (Tim) Weeks of Emerald Isle, NC; Uncle Earl Leggett of Tarboro, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; Garnie Rogister, Grandson Brandon Stroud, and sister in law, Carol Rogister.
The family would like to thank the many special friends and family who showed their loving support to him during his illness.
Funeral services for James will be held on Saturday at 2:00pm at Carlisle Funeral Home with Chester Paramore officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
