James (Jim) Clifford Richman

James (Jim) Clifford Richman passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at his home in Pinetops, NC. He was 73 years old. Jim was born January 10, 1946 in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois to parents Chester Marion Richman and Mary Toohey Richman.

An entrepreneur, Jim owned a security company, Monument Electronics, during the time he lived in Indiana. He then moved to Raleigh where he worked for ADT as a commercial security system expert. He retired from ADT in 2008, and spent quality time with many friends and neighbors. Jim moved to Pinetops, NC in 2018 where he continued to make new friends and spend time with old friends in that welcoming community.

Jim loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. An excellent chef with all things grilled, he loved cooking meals for his extended family and friends. He especially enjoyed working in his yard, raising orchids, watching Notre Dame football, and celebrating his Irish heritage.

Jim is survived by his wife Zora Elizabeth Drake Richman, two daughters, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: daughter Shelly Renee Richman; grandchildren  Mary Lynn Iliff (Ron Kooima) and Michelle Dawne Drummond (Randy Drummond); and great grandson Bryor Michael Drummond; daughter Karen Marie Richman Garzella (Philip Garzella) grandchildren Jocelyn Taylor Sloan, Rhyan Grace Sloan, and Reece Mackenzie Sloan; great granddaughters Deliah Rose Vasquez and Violet Grey Vasquez; many loving nieces and nephews, and longtime friends Jeff and Barbara Gamble.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Marion Richman and Mary Toohey Richman.

A service in celebration of Jim’s life will be held Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 4:00 at the Drake Family Farm (317 Drake Farm Road) in Pinetops with a visitation to follow at the home of Paul and Melissa Drake. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC or the St. Lewis Ruritan Club, 5842 NC-42, Macclesfield, NC 27852.
