Jennie Godwin Sessoms, age 61, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018.  She was born in Wilson County and was the daughter of the late Grady Godwin and Jean Talbott and stepfather Robert “Bobby” Talbott.

Jennie leaves to cherish her memory husband Julius Lynwood Sessoms of Tarboro; daughter Julie Baker Silverberg and husband Adam, Melinda Ward and husband Michael; son Julius Sessoms and wife Stephanie. She is also survived by her (pride and joy) grandchildren, Boone and Jesse Silverberg, Ryan Ward, Joseph Ward, Daniel Ward, Korey Sessoms and Morgan Sessoms. She was known as “Grannie” to her grandchildren and enjoyed her loving relationship with them. Also surviving are her sisters, Jackie Mallory and husband Jay, Bobbie Jo Newsome and husband Wayne and sister-in-law Frances Jones.

Jennie loved to work with elderly people and worked as a Nursing Home Administrator at nursing homes in surrounding areas for many years. She was intelligent, funny, and missed her calling as a cake maker. Jennie was a powerful presence and will not be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, November 25, at Tarboro Church of God with Pastor Sammy Wood officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tarboro Church of God, 412 Shirley St., Tarboro, NC 27886.
