John Wesley “Big John” Foster, Jr., 71, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 19, at Northern Boulevard Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Hendricks and Rev. Exum Harrell, III officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park. 

John was born on March 7, 1947 in Edgecombe County to John Wesley Foster, Sr. and Emily Webb Foster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Corey Jonathan Pitt.

John leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 52 years, Lois Hathaway Foster; daughter, Angie Foster Mitchell and husband Bucky Mitchell; son, John Wesley Foster, III and wife Nora Harris Foster; grandson, Jordan Pitt; sister, Shelby Jefferson; niece, Stacy Hill; and nephew Terry Little.

John’s love for his family and friends will be missed by all of us. His love for Jesus held a special place in his heart and every time he had the chance he would witness to family, friends and even strangers while waiting in the car for Lois to shop or even on the river while he was fishing. He also witnessed to people by insisting that they listen to his songs he had recorded. If John could talk to you now he would say “If you don’t know Jesus, you need to ask Him to come into your heart today and be saved”. He said BYE was final...so instead he would say “See You When I See You”.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Northern Boulevard Baptist Church on Wednesday from 11:00am-1:00pm, and other times at the home- 1118 Margaret Drive, Tarboro.
