Kay Land Barnes, 77, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, August 14, at First Baptist Church with Lamont Hemminger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Kay was born in Edgecombe County on July 28, 1942 to the late Raymond Land and Margaret Shelton Land. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Tarboro. She retired from Stocks Elementary School after many years of dedicated service. She was a warm and loving mother, grandmother and friend.  She spent her time serving the Lord, watching her granddaughter grow up, reading, and enjoying camping trips with family.  She was an amazingly devoted and caring person who would do anything for anyone. Her family loved her very much and are confident she is at peace in heaven. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Land and Peggy Williams.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Billy Barnes; daughter Belinda Parvin and husband Doug, of Morehead City; son Patrick Barnes and wife Denise, of Nashville; granddaughter Sarah Parvin, of Morehead City; sisters, Hilda Edwards, of Rocky Mount, Nancy Edmonds, of Tarboro, and Ann Ayers, of Rocky Mount.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Carlisle Funeral Home on Tuesday night from 7:00-9:00pm.
