Kenneth “Ken” Lee Brewer, 83 passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville, N.C.

He was the son of the late Joseph Edward Brewer and Minnie Shirley Brewer. He was a native of Tarboro, N.C.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Eleanor Tew Brewer; Sons, Kenny, Layne(Angela) and Steve(Joy). Grandchildren, Jordan, Evan, Layne, Jr., Mary Claire, Kelly and Sophie.

His sister, Sara Brewer Rouse, preceded him in death.

Ken graduated from Tarboro High School in 1953, where he excelled in baseball, basketball and football. He attended Campbell College, Buies Creek on a baseball scholarship.

Ken was former manager of Blackwell Tire Company and worked for 35 years at Brinson Chevrolet, Tarboro. After retirement he was Pro Shop manager of Hilma Country Club. He was an avid golfer and had many golfer friends. Ken was a kind and friendly man, who loved his family and friends.

Ken was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tarboro, and he proudly and humbly served as a Deacon of the church. He was also a member of the Golden K Club, Tarboro and a former member of The Lions Club and Kiwanis Club.

Funeral service will be held  3:00 pm, Tuesday, December 11, 2018, First Baptist Church of Tarboro with Rev. Lamont Hemminger officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.
