By the grace of God, Margaret Ann Meeks passed peacefully on October 8, 2019. She was 89 years old (or 88, the way she liked to count it.)
Ann was born to Lenora Felton Parker and Harvey Milton Parker on June 5, 1930 in Beaufort County, NC. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Thomas Parker, Joe Parker, Robert A. Parker, Ruth Eleanor Parker Tew Elliott, and Sally Irene Parker Senter. She is survived by her sister Mary Elizabeth Parker Ferrell and many cousins, nephews and nieces that she loved dearly.
Ann was also predeceased by her husband E. T. Meeks. She was so proud of the family they shared, their son Barton and his wife Linda, and their grandchildren Perry and Katherine (Nathan Bryant).
After a lifetime career as group supervisor for revenue accounting for Carolina Telephone, she dived into a life of service to the town of Tarboro she was so proud to work and live in. Ann embodied the concept of the town taking care of their own. As a faithful member of Calvary Episcopal, she held many positions including chair of the alter guild, president of the ECW, and vestry member. For many years she also supported the Edgecombe Garden Club, Tarboro Outreach, and Meals on Wheels. She loved taking care of people, and was best known for her sharp memory and pimento cheese.
A service will be held at the mausoleum at Edgecombe Memorial Park at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 14, 2019. Family and friends are invited to gather at her home after the service.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church ECW, Tarboro Outreach, or a charity of your choosing.
