Mary Alice (Harris) Heath Maynard

Mrs. Mary Alice Harris Heath Maynard, age 98, passed away on August 26, 2019 at the Autumnfield in Pinetown, NC.

She was born in Edgecombe County on June 6, 1921 to Murray and Gladys Harris. Mary Alice was a strong woman of faith who witnessed to others in song and word until her final days. She was a member of the Tarboro Church of God for much of her life. Her favorite quote was “Jesus Loves you and I do too”. Being raised on a farm Mary Alice learned the skill of working hard. This skill carried her through her adult life at the hosiery mill and at Carolina Telephone and Telegraph where she retired.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Carroll Heath and Harris Heath, brothers Robert Harris, Louis Harris, Murray (Buck) Harris, Matthew Harris and Austin Harris, sister Eva Collins.

Mary Alice is survived by her sons Lynwood Heath and wife Faye of Florida, Gerald Heath and wife Linda of Bath, Austin Heath of Raleigh, grandchildren Tammy Weaver and husband Steve, Lisa Allison, Chris Heath, Allison Heath, 7 great-Grandchildren and 3 great-great-Grandchildren, sister Grace Brantley and husband Bobby, sisters-in-law Inez Harris and Alice Harris.

A Celebration of Mary Alice’s Life will be held in the chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Wood on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 7 PM with the family receiving friends and family following the service until 9 PM.

The interment will be Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11 AM at Edgecombe Memorial Park, Tarboro.
