Vernon Douglas Everette, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday night; September 16, 2018 at Vidant Hospital in Greenville. He was surrounded by his wife, family and many friends during his time in the hospital.

He was born April 17, 1933 in Durham, NC; his parents were Clayton and Anna Bell Taylor Everette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton Everette and wife Anna Bell Taylor Everette; his sons, Vernon Douglas Everette, Jr., and Jeffrey Lynn Everette.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Zadie Woolard Everette; a brother Royce Everette and wife June, Greenville; two daughters, Carolyn Everette, of Lake Worth Florida and Bonnie Everette Stone and husband Marvin Stone, of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Vernon Everette, III, Christy Kay and husband Kenny Kay, William Hyde and wife Jamie Hyde, Woody Parrisher and wife Frances Parrisher, Jennifer Fletcher, Tabitha Vines and Jeffrey Everette; in-laws, Barbara Vainwright and husband Ray Vainwright, Woodrow Parrisher, Jr., and Loretta Everette Hollis; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Jordan, Tyler, Haley, Addisyn, Johnnie, Palin, Sophie, McKenzie and Liam.

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7:00-9:00pm, Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm at the funeral home.  Followed by a graveside service at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
