Woodrow Wayne Trevathan, age 69, passed away surrounded by family on August 7, 2018, at his home on his family’s farm in Tarboro.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives during a Visitation that will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home on Thursday, August 9, from 6:00-8:00pm. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday at the Trevathan Family Cemetery located at 883 Nobles Mill Pond Rd., Tarboro.
Wayne was born in Rocky Mount on December 22, 1948 to Woodrow and Hellen Trevathan. Wayne served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman (medic) and retired as a lifelong farmer in 2000. Wayne loved farming, raising livestock, and “coon” hunting with his son and friends, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his five grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Trevathan Cherry.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sheila Ellis Trevathan; children, Shannon Trevathan West and husband Kevin, Michael Wayne Trevathan and wife Erika; cherished grandchildren, Trey, Sara Grace, Hailey, Mary Kathryn and Bella; sisters, Ruth Trevathan, of Rocky Mount, Mary Trevathan Currie and husband David, of Tarboro, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone for their phone calls, prayers, and visits.
