Addie Elizabeth “Libby” Suggs, 79, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her dearly and a lifetime of memories they will always treasure.

Libby was born in Edgecombe County on April 28, 1947, to the late William Edward and Madeleon Jones Wells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Janice Boyd and Blanche Sutton.

Libby found joy in the simple things, especially when she was surrounded by the people she loved most. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing bingo and shopping with her children and, later, her grandchildren. She had a way of making ordinary days feel special, whether through a warm meal, a good laugh, or time spent together around the kitchen table. She was known for preparing wonderful Sunday meals and was truly a fine Southern cook, especially when it came to her collards. In her later years, she could often be found on the couch on Friday nights watching WWE or gathered around the kitchen table playing her all-time favorite card game, Phase 10.

Those who knew Libby will remember her love for family, her familiar presence in the kitchen, and the comfort she brought simply by being there. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends and in the many meals, laughs, stories, and family moments she helped create.

She is survived by her children, Angie Flint and husband, Ken, and Alicia Douglas and husband, Shannon; beloved grandchildren, Meagan Flint and fiancé, Casey Gilmore, and Georgianna Parker and husband, Joshua Parker; sister, Betty Jean Lynn; and brother, Robert Wells. And many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Libby’s love, laughter, and the memories she gave us will remain with us forever.
