Obituary

Albert Alan Fuerst was born on September 20, 1949, in Steubenville, Ohio to Albert Joseph and Helen Marie Norris Fuerst. He died peacefully on December, 20, 2023, at the age of 74 years at his home in Tarboro, North Carolina.  Albert was a proud United States Army veteran and was a brave and loyal soldier throughout his Army career.

After graduating from Catholic Central High School, he went on to study at St. Leo College in Florida as well as the University of Vienna in Austria, Vienna.  After graduating from St. Leo College in 1971, Albert joined the Army as a military intelligence analyst.  Over the course of his 22 year Army career, Albert served tours in Vietnam, Germany, and Honduras, and was awarded numerous decorations to include the Bronze Star for Valor.  After achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4, Albert retired from the Army in 1993.  Throughout his life Albert was passionate about living history. On Sunday afternoons he could often be found reenacting military history at Fort Washington, Maryland.

Albert is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his former spouse, Ann Marie Schmidt Fuerst; his son, Alex and wife, Lee; his son, Berin; his sister, Charlotte Rowland and husband Gary; his brother, Richard and wife, Rhian; his three grand-children: Megan, Matthew, and Allison; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.  Albert was a loving son, father, husband, grandfather, and friend to many.

Arrangements for Albert's interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be announced in the future.
