Alice Ruth Ellis Johnson, age 104 of Tarboro, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at her home.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Pastor Jessie Blalock officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Alice Ruth worked and retired from Runnymede Mills in Tarboro. She was an active member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. In her later years she attended Word of Life Ministries of Tarboro. She loved to write poetry and spent a lot of time after retirement reading her bible every day. She was an avid Putt-Putt Queen. Her and her husband spent several years playing in tournaments and acquired many trophies. Last but not least was her love for her son Ray, and her love for Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tremain Johnson, Sr.; her parents Thomas and Sarah Ellis; sisters, Lillian Webb, Gladys Keel, Pearl Keel, Adele Ellis, and Ruby Godwin.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 PM and other times at the home: 205 Hall Street, Tarboro, NC.

She is survived by her son Ray Johnson, Jr. of the home; nieces Beverly Burris, Cathy Kelly, Melanie Thompson and Brenda Coker; nephews Willie Webb and Joe White.
