November 29, 1935 – May 9, 2023
Mr. Allen Gay Felton, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023 at his home after a battle with bladder cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Allen was born in Macclesfield , NC. On November 29, 1935 the son of the late Daisy Gay and William Rufus Felton. He is also predeceased by his siblings William Rufus Felton, Grace Felton Harrell and Peggy Felton Norville.
Allen attended South Edgecombe High School and received his GED in 1958. He joined the US Air Force in 1954 and after a short Discharge he re-enlisted in 1958, making it his career for 30 years. His specialty was Life Support, he was a Vietnam Veteran, and he earned the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After his military retirement, he was employed by Standard Commercial Tobacco Company in Wilson, NC for several years and eventually retiring completely in 1991.
During his Military career and brief employment in the tobacco industry, Allen traveled extensively around the world. He greatly enjoyed his time abroad, learning about foreign cultures and the Spanish language while working in South America for Standard Commercial. After retirement he developed a long friendship with Macclesfield resident, James Pollard, assisting James with his lawnmower business, learning about small engine repair, and filling his free afternoons. Allen was a Mason for over 50 years and a life-long Boston Red Sox and North Carolina Tarheels fan and truly enjoyed watching the following sports He was an accomplished golfer and spent much of his free time tending his garden and cutting grass while he was physically able.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria, and a daughter Cheryl "Sherry" of Columbia, SC.

No words can express appreciation for the wonderful care you provided Allen and his family during this difficult time.
A graveside service will be held at the Felton Family Plot in the Macclesfield Cemetery at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the First Christian Church of Macclesfield, NC The Hope Lodge of Greenville, NC. The American Cancer society, The Alzheimer's Association, Disabled American Veterans or to the Charity of your choice.
