Alvis Avon Baker, 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Webbs Chapel Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Macclesfield Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Duncan officiating the service.

Alvis was born in Bakertown in Wilson County on January 23rd, 1937. He met the love of his life, Mary Ann Baker, when they were both 15 years old and they married in 1956. They then moved to Macclesfield to start their careers and raise their family. For more than 40 years, Alvis dedicated himself to the car business, a career that perfectly matched his lifelong love of automobiles. Whether he was selling cars or tinkering with them in his spare time, he took pride in his work. Alvis was an outgoing, well-known presence in his community, remembered for his warm smile and the easy conversations he shared with everyone he met. Above all, Alvis loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a cherished papa, and a beloved brother whose steady support and boundless affection will be forever missed.

Alvis was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Leona Baker; son, Andy Baker; and 8 siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ann Harrell Baker; son, Jimmy Baker and his wife, Kathy; daughter-in-law, Terri Baker; grandchildren, Jordan Baker and Macy, Megan Baker Grimes and Ryan, Logan Baker, and Brandon Baker and Laurie; 8 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
