Anita Ambrose Mills, 62, passed on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Anita was born in Hertford County on August 4, 1963, to the late Bobby and Dorothy Davis Ambrose. Her family moved to the Scotland Neck area when she was 5 years old, where she graduated from Scotland Neck High School in 1981.

After school, she married her husband of 39 years, Gregory, in September 1986. Together, they built a family, starting with the addition of twins in 1991, a son Jonathan Gregory Mills and a daughter, Ashley Nichole Mills.

Even though she had a long road of health struggles, Anita was always the rock of their family. She loved spending time with her family, parents, older sister, and in laws.

The family would like to thank her special friends and neighbors for helping during her final year. They would also like to thank Pastor Spear and his wife Ms. Lois who were always happy to visit, call and pray with the family at any time needed through the years.

In addition to her parents, Anita is preceded in death by her sister Jean Ambrose. She is survived by her loving husband, Gregory Ambrose, her son, Jonathan Gregory Mills, and daughter, Ashley Nichole Mills.

A Visitation will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.

A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.
