Ann Britt
Wiggins
Jan 25, 1934 — Aug 1, 2026
Beaufort, NC
Ann Britt Wiggins, 92, of Beaufort, NC, went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at The SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC.
Ann was a native of Tarboro, NC. Born on January 25, 1934, she was reared on the family farm. A devoted daughter, Ann was the youngest child of Henry Mayo Britt and Susan Roberta Britt. A 1952 graduate of Tarboro High School, our beautiful mother was so aptly described by the caption beside her senior picture. “Smart, sweet and ever neat, she’s the girl who is complete.” That description applied to her throughout her life.
After high school graduation, Ann attended the Pan American Business School in Richmond, Virginia.
She returned home a year later to marry her high school sweetheart, Charles Bryan Wiggins while he was in the US Navy. Upon his discharge, they spent 44 years of marriage together working and rearing their four daughters. Mom was a great homemaker, active room mother for each of her daughters for multiple years, chauffeur for all of the extracurricular events in which her children participated, and faithful church member in each of the cities in which our family lived. She was a longtime member of Macedonia United Methodist Church in Cary, NC. After her move to live with her eldest daughter and husband in Beaufort, NC, Ann faithfully attended Bogue Banks Baptist Church in Atlantic Beach, NC.
Ann was a Raleigh, NC resident for most of her life. For many years, she was the office manager for Myrick Realty and Construction in Raleigh, NC. Her financial skills landed her a job at Belk in Cary, NC where she used her book-keeping skills to manage the cash office until her retirement at the age of 70.
She loved children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved flowers, fresh vegetables, Hershey’s kisses and baking coffee cakes and Ghiradelli brownies for family, friends, and neighbors. A sweeter woman you could not find!
Left to cherish her memory are: daughters, Susanne (Jim) Bunch of Beaufort, NC, Cindy Wiggins Tiede of Wake Forest, NC, Doris (Roger) Boyette of Four Oaks, NC, and Penny (Jim) O’Brian of Chocowinity, NC; grandchildren Jennifer (Roger) Honeycutt, Kelly Williford, Britt Williford, Elizabeth (Robbie) Greene, Bryan (Leeanna) Bunch, Catherine (Kody) Barbour, and Lewis (Megan) O’Brian; and ten great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bryan Wiggins; her parents, her sister, and her two brothers.
She will be buried in Britt/Shelton family cemetery at 715 Britt Farm Road in Tarboro, NC on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM. The graveside service arrangements will be handled by Carlisle Funeral Home of Tarboro, NC. Visitation at the family cemetery will immediately follow the interment.
