Archie R. Hawkins, 94, passed away Friday, June, 19, 2020 at the Fountains at the Albemarle, Tarboro, N.C.

Archie proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII serving in the Pacific War Area from March, 1944 thru June, 1945. He served aboard USS Hornet and received a ribbon bar with star of the Presidential Unit Citation for heroism displayed by the crew in action against Japanese forces. Archie graduate from Shelby High School, Shelby, N. C.  and United Television and Radio Technical School in Louisville, Ky.  He retired in 1984 from Western Electric Co. after many years of service. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 2:30 pm, Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount, N. C.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro, NC.

Archie was preceded in death by his wife Dot.

He survived by his loving family including sons, Douglas Hawkins (Robin) of Charlotte, Larry Dean Hawkins of Burlington; grandchildren, Ryan Hawkins, Heather H. Mathis (Jeremy), Casey Hawkins and Kelly Hawkins; great-granddaughter, Chloe; Niece, Annie Evans (George).
