Obituary

Argusta Bryant Jones, Jr., 81, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 7430 7 Bridges Road, Whitakers, NC.

Bryant was a loving husband, father, granddaddy, and friend. He loved hunting, fishing, and telling stories with his friends. He also spent a lot of his time at his favorite place, White Lake, enjoying time with his friends, and making his BBQ chicken. He was known for being a jokester. Most people knew him as Big Daddy.

Bryant was a member of the fire department for many years.

Bryant was preceded in death by his parents, Argusta and Martha Ellen Jones; and sisters, Alma Groover, Katherin Sutherland, and Martha Ellen Mewborn.

His trusted dog, Cody, who he loved and adored also preceded him.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna Pridgen Jones; son, David Jones and his wife, Martha; daughter, Amy Thigpen and her husband, Ken; grandchildren, Tyson Jones, Connor Jones, Aaron Thigpen, Ethan Thigpen (Morgan), and Mackenzie Thigpen; great grandchildren, Myla Thigpen and Evie Thigpen; nieces, Lynda Gardner who also was his special caretaker, Pam Manning, and Monika Fleming; and nephew, Stafford Hollowell.

Visitation will be at 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Church, P.O. Box 715 Whitakers, NC 27891.
