Obituary

Barbara was born on July 25, 1937 and passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Barbara was a Tarboro native who most recently resided in Mebane. She was the daughter of Franklin Lewis and Daisy Bishop Carter, who preceded her in death.

Barbara was a graduate of Tarboro High School and Parkview School of Nursing. She served as a nurse in the US Air Force for twenty years where she achieved the rank of Major. Barbara was a faithful follower of Christ and partnered with several ministries to further the kingdom of God.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her aunt, Mary Joyce Bishop, sisters: Margaret Deanie Edwards (Charles), and Patsy Carter Bryant (Bobby).

Survivors include: Bo Edwards (Sarah), Joan Reardon (Daryl), Vicki Hudson, Diann Harrell, Debra Taylor, Dee Abrams (John), Bruce Edwards (Cissy), Delane Bryant, Melissa Bryant, Bobbi Bryant Williams (Ted), and Pippa Bryant. She also leaves behind many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.  The family wishes to thank Andy Harding, Angela Thorne, and Lori Flowers who were like family in their care and compassion for Barbara. Additionally, the family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at UNC Memorial Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional care.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 28 at 1:00 PM followed by a 2:00 PM service in the Chapel at Carlisle Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family invites relatives and friends to a reception immediately following the burial at the home of Pippa Bryant, 1300 Saint Andrew Street, Tarboro.
