Betty Baker Reason, aged 79, of Swansboro, NC passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 31, 2025, at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, NC.  Betty was born on July 29, 1946, to the late Edgar Hines and Margaret Mae Baker. She is survived by her husband of nearly 61 years, Douglas "Doug" Reason; daughters Betty "Missy" Webb (Herschel) and Angela Hoffman (Rodney); son Douglas "Mike" Reason (Crystal); brother Edgar Baker (Regina); grandchildren Mark Reason (Amy), Douglas "Mikey" Reason, Krysten Patton (Mark), Charles Morris, Jonathan Corbett (Lissi), Dale Batchelor (Macyna), Daniel Batchelor, Zachary Reason, Emily Reason, Carly Reason; and 13 great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Margaret Baker, and great grandson Brycen Corbett.

Betty was a loyal and devoted wife and mother.  She was passionate about lifelong learning and never missed an opportunity to immerse herself in a good book or pass on the chance to teach or discuss history or genealogy with anyone willing to listen.  Her passion for education was only eclipsed by her love and dedication to her family.  She ensured her home was always full of unending love, care, and compassion especially for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

The family will accept visitors Thursday April 3rd from 6 to 8 pm at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday April 4th at 11 am at Macclesfield Cemetery in Macclesfield, NC.
