IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Gail
(Holland) Summerlin
July 19, 1956 – December 30, 2025
Betty Holland Summerlin (69) of Tarboro, went to her Heavenly home on December 30th, 2025. Betty was preceded in death by her two precious daughters, Tonia Gail Summerlin and Teresa Summerlin-Mobley. She was also preceded in death by her beloved parents, Annie Pearl, and William "Eddie" Holland; her sister, Joan Griffin; and her brothers, Harold, Gerald, William, Mitchell, and Charles Holland.
Visitation will be 1:30 - 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Carlisle Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 3:00pm in the Chapel. The service will be officiated by Pastor Randy Holland. Burial will be private for family only.
She leaves behind a family to cherish her loving memory, which includes her husband of 51 years, Tony; son-in-law, Scott; grandchildren Tonia (Lee), Jarratt (Taylor), Brayden and McKenlee; and great grandsons, Anders, Jay, and Leland. In addition, she is also survived by her brother Randy (Mary) and daughter in love, Jenny (David). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she considered her own, cousins, extended family, and special friends.
Betty Summerlin was a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and boundless love. Through some of life's most unimaginable trials, Betty held firmly to her belief in Jesus, trusting God's plan even when the road was painfully hard. Her faith was not only something she professed, but something she lived—steadfast, sincere, and inspiring to all who knew her.
Betty dedicated her professional life to Heritage Hospital, where her compassion, commitment, and care touched countless lives. Her work was more than a career; it was a calling, and the impact she made has been and will be felt for years to come by patients, coworkers, and friends alike.
Above all else, Betty loved her family deeply. She cherished her husband, Tony, and found constant companionship and joy in her beloved dog, Pressley. Her grandchildren were truly her pride and joy, and she delighted in spoiling them at every opportunity, filling their lives with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Although her health prevented her from spending the time she longed for with her great-grandchildren, her legacy lives through her grandkids, who will carry her love, values, and strength forward.
Betty's courage was extraordinary. She endured the heartbreaking loss of both of her children—a pain no parent should ever have to know—yet even in her grief, she continued to trust God and lean on her faith. Her resilience and grace in the face of such sorrow stands as a testament to the depth of her spirit and the power of her belief.
While her absence is deeply felt here on earth, we take comfort in imagining the joyful reunion taking place in Heaven—a celebration filled with love as Betty is reunited with her girls and her mama. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her, and her life will continue to be a shining example of faith, strength, and unconditional love.
"Well done, My good and faithful servant." -Matthew 25:21
