Betty Jane Clifton Meadows, age 89, of Tarboro, NC, passed away June 15, 2024, unexpectedly.

Born April 8, 1935, in London, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy and Elmer Clifton.

She worked as a Home Health Aide and a Housekeeper, but the job she loved was caring for her children. She dated Jack McKinney for a time and they introduced Dorothy Mae Clifton into the world. She later met David Lee Meadows, and they were married for 67 years and had 7 children; Brenda Clifton, David Lee Meadows, Steven Meadows, Michael Meadows, Robert Meadows, Tony Meadows, and Timothy Meadows.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David, and two sons, David Lee and Robert.

Survivors include her sister, Bernetta Ray from Texas, daughters; Dorothy (Steve) Cox of NC, Brenda Clifton of OH, sons; Steve Meadows of NC, Michael Meadows of OH, Tony Meadows of NC, and Timothy (Amber) Meadows of OH, a nd many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Betty was loved by all and will be missed by many. She was a very special woman, and we know she is rejoicing in heaven now with her loved ones.

A Visitation for Betty will be honored on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC 27886.
