Betty Livesay Newberry, 76, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020.

Due to Covid-19 a private graveside will be held on Thursday.

Betty retired from The Daily Southerner in Tarboro after many years of service.

She was born in Nash County on November 21, 1943 to the late Ralph Livesay and Mildred Boone Livesay.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Livesay.

She is survived by her loving family which includes her husband of 47 years, Sidney E. Newberry; son Brooke Newberry and wife Tracie; daughter Danielle Pilley and husband Michael; grandchildren, Brooklynn Newberry, Kansas Newberry, Dakota Newberry, Patrick Webb and Allie Webb; sister, Dena Toffaletti and husband John, Sherry Livesay and friend Glenda Norris; and sister-in-law, Becky Livesay.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to SPCA Alliance (an organization dedicated to saving homeless pets from shelters in Tarboro and Edgecombe County) 604 Palmer Street, Tarboro, NC 27886, c/o Peggy Harrell.
