Betty Jean Rogister Walston, 77, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Betty was a beloved wife, mother, nana, and friend. She retired from Edgecombe County Schools after serving 20 years in food services and as a bus driver.   She was an amazing mother to her children and "loved on" all the children in her school system.  She never met a stranger and was always willing to help.

She was a member of the Leggett Ruritan Club for many years. She enjoyed horseback riding, painting pictures, and riding her bike around her neighborhood with her friends and children. Her two favorite possessions were her horse Cary and that green Ford Ranger Truck.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, L.B. Walston; parents, Herman and Alice Rogister; and brother, Herman D. Rogister.

She is survived by her children; Lawson Walston Jr. (Lisa), George Allen Walston, Lillian Walston Stroud (Preston), and Mark Walston; grandchildren, Alexander Stroud and Logan Stroud; siblings, Louise James, Ray Rogister (Kathy), Robert Earl Rogister (Ann), and Kenneth Rogister; and beloved friend, Joe Taylor.

Visitation will be at 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Carlisle Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Carlisle Funeral Home. Burial will be private for immediate family only.
