It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Walker Deal announces her passing on June 10, 2021. She was born in Washington, NC to Mabell and William Henry Walker on July 22, 1942. She served as secretary for Edgecombe County Schools for several years and was employed by Carolina Telephone before retiring in 1999. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and grandchild, Kelly Michelle.

She will be forever remembered by her loving family including her husband of 60 years, Melvin Deal of the home; daughters, Stephanie Roberts, (Chris) of Macclesfield, Kathy Webb (Timmy) of Pinetops, and son, Creig Deal (Donna) of Temperance Hall; sister, Peggy Whitehurst and brother, William Archie Walker of Tarboro;  four grandchildren, Jacob Griffin (Katie) of San Diego, California, Jordan Sturgill (Pierce) of Greenville, Taylor Case (Corey) of Jacksonville, and Megan Deal of Temperance Hall, two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Griffin of San Diego, California and Griffin Sturgill of Greenville.

Visitation will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro, NC on Saturday, June 12 from 6-8 pm and other times at the home,1879 Pinetops Crisp Road, Pinetops. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Prodigy Transitional Rehab, Attn: Memory Care, 911 Western Blvd, Tarboro, NC  27886.
