Bobby Ray Edmondson, 88, passed away on July 16,2025 at ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital, surrounded by his beloved family.
He was born on January 19, 1937, in Edgecombe County, N. C. Bobby was a devoted husband to his best friend, Charlotte and a loving father to his pride and joy, his daughter Kim. He was her biggest fan on the athletic fields and in life.
Bobby was an equipment engineer with Carolina Telephone and Telegraph company and later with Sprint. He retired after 38 years of service. After retirement, he turned his interest to hobbies including gardening, landscaping, and restoring antiques. He and Charlotte operated Piney Woods Antiques traveling to display at antique shows in North Carolina and Virginia. He was a master craftsman at restoring and salvaging early primitive antique furniture.
Bobby found contentment in the simple pleasures of life. He was happiest when enjoying God's simple gifts. He loved nature, all animals, and his family.
He was an avid East Carolina Pirate fan and a longtime member of the Pirate Club, loving any and everything Purple and Gold.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Ira Rufus Edmondson and Margaret Whitley Edmondson, bother Joe Connie Edmondson and nephew, Ricky Gerald Edmondson.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Edmondson, of the home, and his daughter, Kim Edmondson, of Wilson, N.C., and his loving and faithful canine companion Louise, along with many friends and relatives.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 22, at McKendree United Methodist Church 7882 McKendree Church Rd in Tarboro, NC. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to The Wilson County Humane Society, P. O. Box 7064, Wilson, N.C. 27895 or The SPCA Alliance of N.C., 604 Palmer Street, Tarboro, N.C. 27886. The family wishes to thank his loyal caregivers, Pat Hall, Brenda Parker, and Reba Blackley for their unconditional love and care throughout the years.
