Braxton Earl Webb, 73, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Crabtree and Rev. Randy Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.

Earl was born in Edgecombe County on December 7, 1946 to the late Joel Braxton Webb and Rosa Williams Webb. Throughout Earl's life he was an avid baseball fan. From being on the pitcher's mound as a force to be reckoned with, to guiding his grandchildren as their personal coach or volunteering to coach community teams, leading several of them to championships. As a young boy, Earl was a Boy Scout. Later in life Earl served as a Scoutmaster to several troops. He was a devoted Wake Forest fan. His television was always tuned to ACC basketball. Sometimes it was a toss-up between basketball and his beloved old westerns.

Earl was a family oriented person. He was always his family's go-to-person, whether it was picking up kids from school, auto repairs, home repairs, or anything in between, he was always there. If he couldn't fix it, he knew somebody who could. He loved to cook on the grill. Nobody could cook like Earl, using a sauce recipe handed down from his father-in-law, John Ayers. Whatever he prepared was delicious. He definitely earned bragging rights!

Earl supported his family and friends with sacrificial love. He was a simple man who thought he didn't have much to give but he gave all he had to everyone he knew. His family, friends and his beagles, Lucky, Copper and Bruce will miss him greatly.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Ann Ayers Webb; daughters, Cindy Webb Griffin and Kathy Webb, both of Tarboro; six grandchildren, Braxton Griffin, Caleb Webb, Kelci Webb, Elizabeth Griffin, Kyndell Webb and Nate Webb; great-grandson, Kayden Webb, who were his pride and joy; sister, Brenda O'Neal; brother, Bruce Webb (Arena); sisters-in-law, Martha Jane Webb, Kay Gardner (Joe), of Tarboro, Jean Joyner, of Durham; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30-2:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.

Arrangements are by Carlisle Funeral Home, Inc., of Tarboro. Online condolences may be directed to the family by visiting www.carlislefuneralhome.com.
