Brenda Hooks Carlisle peacefully gained her angel wings while surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 25th, 2023.

She was born in Newport News, VA, on August 7th, 1960, to the late Edward L. Steele and Mary "Frances" Taylor. She had a larger-than-life spirit, loved her family and friends dearly, and never met a stranger. With a heart as big as the world, she was always willing to help anyone in need and put herself second to everyone.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar R. Hooks; sister, Mary "Peanut" Steele and special friend, Randy Potter.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Lewis (Oliver) of Chocowinity; son, Robert Carlisle (Krystle) of Tarboro; granddaughter, Madison Lewis (Micah) of VA; grandsons, Joshua Lewis of Chocowinity and Silas Carlisle of Tarboro; great-grandson River Dickerson of VA; stepdad, Meredith Taylor Jr of VA; sister, Peggy Walker (Richie) of Macclesfield; twin brother Edward Hooks of VA; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home on Thursday, June 29th, 2023. Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 7 pm, with the service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to a charity of your choice.
