Carol Elizabeth Barefoot Martinez, 46, of Tarboro, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 26th. Carol was born in Elizabeth City, NC on May 25th, 1975. She was the daughter of Elizabeth and Lester Baker, Jr and the late Andrew Jackson Barefoot.

She is survived by her children, Matthew Ryan Barefoot of Benson, Amber Nicole Barefoot of Macclesfield, Melbin Eli Martinez of Tarboro, Juan Diego Gonzalez and Hector Miguel Rodriguez of the home; Sisters, Andrea Dawn Barefoot of Rocky Mount and Courtney Baker Weeks and husband Matthew of Tarboro; Nephew, Grayson Lee Weeks of Tarboro and Grandmother Sarah Smith of Pinetops; and several other family and friends.

Carol loved her children with her whole heart. She looked forward to their yearly beach trips. In her free time, she enjoyed making any type of crafts and playing Bingo. As her mama would say, "She had a heart of gold." She was always willing to do for someone else even when she couldn't do for herself.

There will be a visitation on Saturday at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro from 12-2 with service following.
