Carolyn Myers Worden was born July 9, 1948 in Winston-Salem, NC.

After graduating from Appalachian State University, she taught social studies in the Edgecombe County Schools at North Edgecombe High School for 35 years. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (an honorary society for female educators), and the Pilot Club of Tarboro. Carolyn was proud of her life in teaching, her daughter, and her volunteer work with the Pilot Club, especially at Camp Carefree.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Ann Worden, her parents, Hal Richard and Inez Couch Myers, and her sister, Shirley Myers Long.

She is survived by her sisters, Kay Myers Tillotson and Geraldine Myers Styers, and her husband, Jerry, and dear friend, Jane Gurley Harper. She is also survived by 3 nieces, 1 nephew and their families.

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at St. James United Methodist Church in Tarboro, NC. Pastors Nathan Wittman and Caswell Shaw will officiate. Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Elizabeth Ann Worden Scholarship in the College of Human Ecology at East Carolina University, ECU Office of University Development, 2200 South Charles Boulevard, Greenville, NC 27858.
