Charles Ervin Gregory was born May 1, 1932 in Mecklenburg County Virginia. He is the son of Henry Ervin Gregory and Mary Lenora Gregory.
Charles is survived by his wife Sarah Rainwater Gregory, and his two siblings Barbara Ann Peterson and Wayne Agustus Gregory.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas Colley Gregory. Charles and Sarah were married 65 years and have four children: Charles Ervin Gregory Junior (Lisa), Sarah Ann Harrell, Elizabeth Gregory Speight (Ken), and Julie Eleanor Rose (Rod). He has three grandchildren, Erick, Liza, and Ella Rose.
Charles graduated from South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida. After serving in the Navy, he started a career in sales at Super Mold Corporation. He later worked as Branch Manager at Long Manufacturing Company in Titon, Georgia. He continued his career at Long Manufacturing in Tarboro, NC where he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager. In 1984 he became the owner of The Gregory Manufacturing Company. Charles held positions as President and Board Member of The North Carolina Agribusiness Council, President of The Southern Farm Equipment Manufacturer Association, and President of Golden Kiwanis Club.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tarboro for 50 years. Charles served as a Church Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Teacher, and was a member of the sanctuary choir. Charles' life was a living testament of love, kindness, and generosity. He devoutly loved God, cherished his family, and his warm smile was a beacon of joy to everyone he encountered. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
The visitation is 1:30-3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25, at First Baptist Church, Tarboro, A service to celebrate Charles' life will begin at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary. The burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church, Tarboro, NC.
