On Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the age of 77, our beloved friend quietly slipped away from this world and went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Clarence A. Sutton (so affectionately known as "Dickie") was born on February 26, 1946 in Edgecombe County to Frances L. Sutton-Armstrong. Dickie had a passion for UNC football, basketball, western movies, and all types of music. If you were to "hum" a tune for him, he could tell you the artist, year and whether or not the song was a "One Hit Wonder." These were his exact words. Dickie loved traveling with his late best friend Julius Rose "Fat Cat" and his late wife "Cookie" (owners of Tape City) for entertainment and business.

Dickie was preceded in death by his mother, Frances L. Sutton Armstrong; stepfather, James H. Armstrong; and very special and loving aunt, Jannie Farmer.

Dickie is survived by his very special partner and friend, Norma Dawson; cousins, Ruth Bunting, Donald Ray Sutton; along with a host of family, friends, and acquaintances.

Visitation will be at Carlisle Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Celebration Service will be held at WORD Tabernacle Church on Thursday, June 23, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation before starting at 2:30.
