Clifton Otis "Pete" Whitehurst, 80 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Carlisle Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.

He was born in Martin County on August 15, 1941 to Otis and Cleo Whitehurst.

During his childhood while attending school he worked with his family putting up tobacco. Upon adulthood he went to work with Ormond Wholesale Company in Greenville, NC until closing in 1985. In 1985 he moved to Tarboro and went to work with W.S. Clark & Sons Chemical Warehouse until he retired in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Whitehurst Prince.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Whitehurst and fiancé Frank Bullock, of Tarboro, NC; grandson, Nick Worsley (Kristie Glover), of Macclesfield, NC; sister Maybell Brown (George), of Tarboro, NC, sister Joyce Ann Tyree, of Mebane, NC; nephews, Greg Brown, of Rocky Mount, NC, Michael Tyree, of Mebane, NC, Jody Tyree, of Burlington, NC; niece Kim Prince, of Ayden, NC; great-niece Maggie Tyree, of Burlington, NC; great nephews Justin Brown, of Rocky Mount, NC , Zach Joyner, of Ayden, NC, Che Perry, of Ayden, NC, AJ Tyree, of Burlington, NC, Jack Tyree, of Burlington, NC; and special friend, Peggy Whitehurst of Tarboro, NC.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00-2:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.
