Obituary

Danny Ellis Vick, age 72, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2024.  Danny was born on August 5, 1952 and was lovingly raised by his parents, JC and Ann Vick in Tarboro where he enjoyed playing in local rock 'n roll bands, driving his parent's cars too fast and engaging in typical teenage boy misadventures during the idyllic days of 1960's Tarboro. After high school, Danny was blessed to meet and marry his first wife Connie, and together they worked hard to provide a loving home for their two children, Danny Vick, Jr. and Amber Vick.

Danny was a long-distance truck driver which required long bouts of time away from home and long hours of sacrifice by Danny and also Connie. Later he was a talented, heavy equipment operator for a number of companies in eastern, NC.   Danny enjoyed hard work and also the friendships he made along the way.

Life held a number of setbacks for Danny which he survived by exuding a friendly disposition, extoling admiration and praise on others in his path and cherishing a simple life that valued people over possessions.  Danny represented 1 Samuel 16:7 well: "people judge by outward appearances, but the Lord looks at the heart."

Danny is survived by his brother Jay Vick of Rocky Mount (Susan, Wesleigh and Clay),  daughter Amber (fiance' Jason Joyner) and beloved granddaughter Bella and grandson Jayce, of Tarboro. Connie Hunt, his stalwart friend and first wife, of Tarboro, also survives him.  Danny cherished his relatives in Macclesfield including Teresa Varnell  and Jeff and Ann Jeffreys and their extended families. Danny was blessed to form a relationship later in life with three siblings of his biological father, Roy Keel, and they include Debbie Mitchell (Clay), Cindy Webb (Duane), Wendi Lewis (James).

Danny is predeceased by his parents JC and Ann Vick, formerly of Macclesfield, his son, Danny Vick, Jr.  and his late wife Jan.  Danny lived in Macclesfield for several years, but recently was an inhabitant of the memory care facility at The Bridges at Hendricks Creek in Tarboro. Special thanks go to his caretakers at The Bridges, his hospice caretakers and to Jeff and Ann Jeffreys of Macclesfield for their long-term assistance to Danny.

A family, graveside service will be held at Macclesfield Cemetery on Monday, December 9th at 2:00 p.m.
