David Gene Hill, Sr., 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 30, at Carlisle Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Gene was born in Derby, Virginia on January 2, 1938 to Madison David Hill and Mary Irene Day Hill.

Gene honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a former police officer and provided security to several businesses in the area; later retiring as a skilled carpenter and concrete finisher. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Tarboro as one of Jehovah's witnesses.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert D. "Bobby" Hill of Macclesfield.

Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda Anderson Hill; Son, David Gene Hill, Jr. and wife Patti of Wilmington; Brother, James Howard Hill and wife Lee of Tarboro; Sister, Joyce Nell McKinney and husband Ronald of Alabama; Grandchildren: Lauren James and husband Brian of Georgia, Brandon Hill of Greensboro, John David Hill and wife Kaitlyn of Greenville; Great-Grandchildren: Ainsley, Sadie and Colton James of Georgia; several nieces and nephews; and their "Adopted" daughter and son, Elaine and Jeff Beal of Nashville.
