Dawson Joey Davis, 18 years old, lost his life in a tragic gun accident on February 3, 2024. He was born on  June 20, 2005, to Herman "Wayne" Davis and Christy Craddock Davis.

Visitation will be at 6:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Carlisle Funeral Home.

Dawson was a very happy young man whose smile could light up the entire room. He was very dedicated to his schoolwork. He graduated Cum Laude in June 2023 from Southwest Edgecombe  where he was an honor graduate, a member of national honor society, and NC academic scholar. He also received principals award and a certification in electrical systems technology and had already completed over 31 hours of college credit. Dawson also received the Edge Scholarship and was attending Edgecombe Community College pursuing a degree in industrial engineering.

Dawson was a thoughtful, generous, loving, gentle soul who would do anything to help others. He was known for his contagious smile. He enjoyed playing Xbox with his dad, brothers, and friends. His love for all things Japanese left him with the desire to go to Japan and he had recently started learning the Japanese language. Dawson shared a very close and loving relationship with his family.

Dawson was survived by his parents, Wayne and Christy Davis; brother, Jacob Davis and his wife Ashley; brother, Grant Davis and wife Kayla, who recently had Dawson's first nephew, Layton; sister, Ava Davis; grandparents, Clarence and Myra Davis, and Phillip and Sharon Craddock; aunts, Sandi Cox, Cyndi "Dee Dee" Keen (William "Buh"), Erin Davis, and Samantha Davis; uncles, Phillip Craddock Jr. (Leslie), Brian Davis, and Michael Davis; as well as several great aunts, great uncles, cousins, family and friends who all love him dearly.

Dawson was loved beyond measure and his absence will forever leave a hole in our hearts.

Memorial service will be at 7:00 PM on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Carlisle Funeral Home with Rev. Exum Harrell
