IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis Thrower
Taylor
December 2, 1938 – January 7, 2023
Mr. Dennis Thrower Taylor, 84 of Tarboro, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital, Tarboro.
The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 12 until 2pm with A Celebration of Life Service following in the Chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home at 2:00pm. The interment will be held at Edgecombe Memorial Park with Masonic Rites provided by Concord Masonic Lodge #58 of Tarboro. The family will also be receiving visitors at Mike's house at 5877 US 258 South, Tarboro.
Dennis was born in Martin County on December 2, 1938. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Letchworth Taylor, his grandson Landon Ray Griffin, his great-grandson, Tyler Lee Gallinoto; his parents, Dennis Palmer Taylor and Sarah Mae Mobley.
Pop is survived by his "golden" son, Michael T. Taylor (Tracee), daughter, Stephanie T. Griffin, three grandchildren, Lauren Taylor Gallinoto (Drew), Cameron Taylor Griffin (Sofie), Kaitlyn Taylor Mills (Timmy); and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Michael Robertson and Lawson Ray Mills; sister, Frances T. Clark (S.L.), brother, William Brooks Taylor (Carol), nephews and special young ladies (Heaven Zimmerman and Grayson Myers).
He was known by many names over the years: Daddy, Pop, Mr. Dennis, Mr. Taylor, Hot Dog King, and Thrower. Daddy was a Master Mason and belonged to Concord Lodge #58. He was also a Sudan Shriner. Both of which he was very proud of.
Daddy was the owner of Taylor's Grocery/Grill in Pinetops. He opened the store in June 1982 and worked alongside his son for 36 years, with not a cross word at all. Daddy loved the store, the community and made so many friendships over the years.
Flowers are welcomed or donations can be made to the Shriner's Hospital or his late grandson's scholarship fund.
