Don Wilson Crawford, 71, of Tarboro, North Carolina passed away May 8, 2021, with his son Will by his side.

Don was born in Greenville, NC on December 15, 1949 to Bernett Hemby Crawford and Sallie Josephine Wilson Crawford. Don attended JH Rose High School, in Greenville, North Carolina. At the age of 17, he proudly joined the US Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he embraced his free spirit and hit the road seeing as much of the US as possible.

After which, he settled in Greenville NC where he met his wife of almost 42 years, Roxanne Butler Crawford. Together they moved to Tarboro where he worked for many years with Long Manufacturing. During this time he was able to travel the countryside inspecting grain bins. Don is preceded in death by his wife Roxanne Butler Crawford, parents, Bernett Hemby Crawford and Sallie Josephine Wilson Crawford.

He is survived by his son, Don Wilson "Will" Crawford, Jr.; sisters, Josie Baese, Rose Jongema and Anna "Connie" Guinn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don also leaves behind his beloved dog, BoBo. Don was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and son, as well as his friends. Don's friends knew him as "Lightning ". Before Don became disabled, he loved working around his yard, listening to music, watching sports and relaxing with a cold beer. He was loved by many and will never be forgotten.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in Sunnyside Cemetery, Scotland Neck, NC.
