On Thursday June 8, at the age of 89 our beloved husband, father, granddaddy, brother, and dear friend quietly slipped away from this world and went home to be with his Lord.

Donald Gray Phillips Sr. was born in Edgecombe County to Catherine and Henry Phillips.  He was a dedicated family man and friend.  Donald enjoyed the outdoors where he spent most of his time tending to his flower garden, fish pond, and pets.  He also had a passion of model trains.  Donald had a established career working at the Ford Plant in Virginia before he transitioned to opening the Car Shop aka "The Cow Shop," which he will be specially remembered for.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters Joyce & Lois Phillips, sister Sarah Phillips Gardner, and his beloved first wife of 48 years Avery Mae Phillips.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Donna Sutton and husband Clent, and Cathy "Elizabeth" Jones and husband Chris, sons Donald Phillips Jr, Keith Phillips and wife Melissa;

Grandchildren Tracy, Casey and "David", Quentin and "Julie", Alison and "Robert", Matthew and "Devon", Dylan and "Bri", Bradley, Hunter and "Autumn", Logan, Haley, and Breanna;

Great-grandchildren Conner, Abigail, Carter, Lanie, Luke, Makayla, and Torryn; and step children, step grandchildren; along with a host of family, friends, and other relatives.

The family will receive family and friends at the home of Cathy and Chris Jones.

Visitation will be at Carlisle Funeral Home on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Carlisle Funeral Home with burial following at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
