Dorothy Marie Harris, age 76, passed away in Smithfield, NC at the SECU Hospice House.

She was born in Edgecombe County on May 31, 1943 to Fred Phillips and Lillie Mae Merritt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd J. Harris.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carol Harris of Wendell; sons, Stanley Harris of Raleigh, Carl Harris of Florida; sisters, Nancy Williams, Deborah Savage both of Tarboro; brothers, William Myers, Robert Merritt; two grandchildren, Isabella Yates, Candice Russell; and one great-granddaughter, Ella Russell and also extended family and friends

A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held in the chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The family will be receiving friends one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service at Edgecombe Memorial Park, Tarboro.
