Edgar Benjamin "Ben" Gammons Jr., 79, passed away on January 15, 2024, in Tarboro, NC. He was born on April 10 1944, in Smithfield, NC. Ben is survived by his son Edgar Benjamin Gammons III of Conetoe, NC, his daughter, Laura Eileen Gammons of New Bern, NC, his brother David Hood Gammons (Debbie) of Tarboro, NC, and his life partner Dee Ann Smith of Rocky Mount, NC.

Ben was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Georgia Kovan Gammons, his father, Edgar Benjamin Gammons Sr., his mother, Marilyn Coltrane Gammons, and his brother, Gary Wallace Gammons.

Ben attended Tarboro High School and furthered his education at UNC-CH and NCSU. He proudly served in the US Army and was stationed in Frankfurt Germany.

Throughout his career, Ben worked as a General Contractor, in industrial management, and also in sales. His dedication and expertise were admired by colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ben had a passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace in nature's embrace. He was a valued educator to many outdoorsmen over the course of his life. Additionally, Ben was an avid reader, skilled carpenter and woodworker, and enthusiast for trying new things. His mother often bragged that he earned a perfect score on the SAT and there was nothing he couldn't do once he put his mind to it.

Ben's commitment to his endeavors and his vast array of knowledge will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursda, January 18, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery, Tarboro, NC with Rev. Rebekah Maul officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church or charity of your choice.
