Edith Mae Webb Potts, 102, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be at 2:00 – 3:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Carlisle Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 3:00pm at Pineview Cemetery in Pinetops, which is offered by Rev. Aaron Saufley.
Edith was born on October 24, 1923, in Pinetops, North Carolina. She spent her early years in Pinetops and Tarboro. Edith worked as a stenographer with Hart Cotton Mills and Long Manufacturing before marrying Jim Potts. Together, they moved to numerous locations across the United States, eventually settling in Savannah, Georgia. Edith loved traveling, exploring many places both within the U.S. and abroad alongside her husband.
After Jim's passing, Edith continued her love of travel with his sister, Helen, creating many cherished memories. She later returned to North Carolina, making her home in Greenville, where she resided until her passing. Edith was deeply devoted to her church and remained active for as long as her health allowed. She was a steady source of love and support for her family, always present through both joyful and difficult times, and will be remembered for her faith, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Edwin Potts; parents, Allen Mark Webb Sr. and Maggie Mae Stallings; siblings, Marguerite Dukes, Allen Mark Webb Jr., Fredrica Webb Varnell, Ned Stallings Webb; and stepdaughter, Jan K. Wieser (Paul – living).
Edith is survived by her sister, Arlene Webb Jackson and her husband, Grant of Greenville, NC; 3 grandchildren, Dena Nichols (Matt) of Louisville, CO, Jennifer Apple (Pete) of Sammamish, WA, and Rachel Caldwell (Andrew) of Pheonix, AZ; 10 nieces; 12 nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or charity of your choosing.
