IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edna Lowell
(Weeks) Worsley
September 24, 1922 – February 16, 2024
Edna Lowell Weeks Worsley, age 101, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. She was born on September 24, 1922, in Tarboro to Hugh and Lena Weeks and was a lifelong resident of Tarboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Braxton McLinden Worsley, Jr., her husband, Braxton McLinden Worsley, her sister, Elsilene Miller, her brother, Charles Weeks, and family friend, Louise Purvis.
Edna attended Harbarger's Business School in Raleigh and received a degree in business from Elon College. She worked at Robert's Jewelry for many years. She was later office manager for Braxton M. Worsley Insurance Agency, working side by side with her husband. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
Edna was a kindhearted, loving mother and beloved grandmother and great-grandmother to her grandchildren. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She loved flowers and had the proverbial green thumb. Her yard was always her pride and joy, earning several recognitions for Yard of the Month, and you could always tell what season it was by the potted plants on her porch.
She was a true southern lady, friends often comparing her appearance to that of a doll baby because she was petite in stature and coordinated from head to toe with matching jewelry, scarves, and her famous heels, especially her Spectator Pumps! She loved sitting on her porch while visiting with family and friends. She was a marvelous cook, and no one has yet to duplicate her famous chicken salad. She will be remembered for her love of dance, her intuitiveness, and her sharp wit.
She is survived by her son, Hugh Weeks Worsley and his wife Donna of Tarboro and her daughter, Susan Worsley Cutler of Wilmington, her grandchildren, Hugh Weeks Worsley II and his wife Brooke of Nashville, Allison Lowell Lancaster and her fiancé, Lawrence Keech of Leland, Melissa Pauline Cutler and her fiancé, Ben Watts of Leland, Vance McLinden Worsley of Blowing Rock, Michael Brian Worsley and his wife Denise of Grimesland; her great-grandchildren, Braxton Worsley and Addison Worsley; a niece, Pat Ross and her husband, Bobby of Virginia Beach, and family friend, Sally Davis of Tarboro. She loved all of her grandfurbabies, and Taz was her constant couch companion.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bluefields Memory Care in Leland for their loving care, Lifecare of New Hanover County and Brunswick County, and New Hanover County Meals on Wheels.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Edgecombe Memorial Park with the Rev. Ron Elkins officiating. The family will visit with friends and family following services at the graveside.
