Edward Close, Jr. "Preacher", 70 passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019.

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home, Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. and other times at the home of Jason and Shelly Close, 210 Barlow Rd., Tarboro.

Edward proudly served his country in U. S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.He was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase VI, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal W/V Device, Aircraft Crew Badge, Vietnam Summer-Fall, TET 69/Counteroffensive and was Rifle Expert Marksman.

He was a volunteer fireman in Mayfield, New York before moving to North Carolina in 1995. He was employed with Carolina Enterprise as a extrusion operator. He recently retired from General Foam Plastic Mfg. Co.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 43 years, Crystal LaMont Close; sons, Jason Close and his wife, Shelly, Matthew Close; grandchildren, Trinity Close and Collin Close; sister, Jean Brown and her husband, Gardner; brother-in-law, Larry Case; his fur babies, Gabby, Smokie and Kittens.
