Elaine Jones Newell, 79, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with her loving husband, Charles "Buddy" Newell, by her side.

Graveside service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Pineview Cemetery in Pinetops, NC with Rev. Sonny Simpson officiating the service.

Elaine was born in Edgecombe County on August 28, 1946, to the late Wade Jones, Sr. and Edna Jones. She was known as a hard worker and for her loving heart. She retired from ABB after more than twenty-five years of service. She had many interests, but especially gardening and hunting. She would often go hunting with Mike Champ but had no problem in going hunting by herself.

Because of Elaine's big heart, friends and family were blessed to experience what it was like to be loved by someone with their whole heart. She loved and doted on her cats and dogs, but her biggest love was saved for Buddy. Elaine and Buddy were partners in love for over sixty years. They would have celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage on December 22nd.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death her brothers, W.C. Jones and Wade Jones Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Charles "Buddy" Newell; son, Charles "CW" Wade Newell; sisters-in-law, Gail Jones, Molly Ginn, and Debbie Anderson; nieces, Ann Jones and Jennifer Jones; nephew, Willie Jones Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Newell.
